JASSIS:  More American Than Apple Pie

Jass was not born under dainty circumstances.

Its sound was not always found uptown, at gala soirées, upscale “partays”, and ballroom dances.

It was unknown to some, and by others forgotten, and even still sometimes debated, that such a feat
was forged for years by many, not by one.  Created through the respect and realization of the nearness
and negotiation between “The Motherland’s” resoundingly spiritual beat, and the classical of Creole and
white; spiced with the soul & spite of the African Diaspora slave and the immigrant’s plight.

Jazz was the successful negotiation between dirty & clean, rich & poor, nice & mean . . .those “coked-up”,
and those who chose their only medicinal alternative to be Listerine.

Jazz was and always will be:

Jelly Roll, Sidney, Louie, Duke, Count, Cab, Benny, Billie, Ella, Dizzy, Monk,

Bird, Mingus, Trane, Miles, Roach, Getz, and even more too countless to name . .

their legacies and storied history will forever remain, so even after they all die . . .

Jass was what Jass is . . . more American than apple pie.
